Plant
To 30 cm tall with a basal rosette of broad rumpled round to heart-shaped leaves 20 mm across or short almost triangular stem leaves 5-20 x 2-5 mm; semi-mature plants may have mixed leaves..
Flowers
Small, one rarely two, 10-15mm tall. Dorsal sepal and petals pointed, about equal. Lateral sepals fine, erect and spreading widely. Junction of the lateral sepals strongly rolled outwards to form a thick lip.
Flowering
May - October.
Habitat
Lowland to montane, light scrub and forest. Northland to Nelson and Marlborough Sounds.
Conservation
Widespread, common, forming large colonies.
Notes
Like P. alobula but flowers slender. Flowers occasionally turning reddish after pollination, sometimes lateral petals separate from the dorsal sepal.
