PLANT: Terrestrial tuberous herb.
Up to 40cm high when in flower. Stem dark purple pigmented with three bright green bracts. Flowers only open on hot, humid, sunny days.

LEAVES: Single leaf. Green turning red near the base.

FLOWERS: Up to 15 widely spaced flowers. Sepals, petals and labellum mauve, with the outer surfaces purple. Petals wider than the sepals. Column base mauve, column top bright yellow with an oblong opening. Column arms short with sparse white upturned cilia on the ends.

FLOWERING TIME: October - November.

HABITAT: Damp scrub and tracksides.

CONSERVATION STATUS: Not Recorded.

NOTES: An undescribed species only recorded from the Far North.
