PLANT: Terrestrial tuberous herb.
Up to 40cm tall when in flower. Stem slender, blue-green in colour.

LEAVES: Single. Narrow, strap-like, concave.

FLOWERS: Up to 12 flowers.
1 - 1.5 cm across. Blue to mauve, sometimes green-mauve or pale lavender pink with darker speckling. Top of column bright yellow and domed with obscurely toothed margins. Column arms bent sharply inward jamming the dense bunches of white cilia together.

FLOWERING TIME:
November - December.

HABITAT: Open areas amongst gumland scrub.

CONSERVATION STATUS: Not threatened.

NOTES: Not uncommon around Auckland, but less common elsewhere. Populations appear to be declining.
