Plant
Tight clumps of oval pseudobulbs. Leaf hairless, 30 x 3mm.
Flowers
2 or 3 off-white with orange labellum. Seed capsule tawny with maroon, warty ribs, about same size as pseudobulb.
Flowering
April - May.
Habitat
Sparse in lowland kauri or podocarp forest on large trees, often high in the canopy. South to Nelson.
Conservation
Very local and often overlooked; not threatened but naturally uncommon.
Notes
Forms scattered small clumps on the same tree. Distinguished from B. pygmaeum by its small clumps of significantly larger hairless leaves that stick out from the tuber and the larger, more colourful flowers..
