Plant
5 to 20cm tall. Leaf broad to 1 cm wide and typically brownish green.
Flowers
1-2 large, white, 15-20mm across, with variably red barred labellum and 2-6 rows of yellow topped calli extending to the tip of the midlobe which has irregular marginal calli. Petals oblong and pointed, dorsal sepal wider than the labellum and hooded over it.
Flowering
November - January.
Habitat
Lowland to alpine tussock, wetlands and scrub. Central North is southwards.
Conservation
Locally quite common; not threatened.
Notes
An extremely variable species and some forms can be difficult to separate from the Tasmanian C. alpina.
