Plant
To 30cm tall, stem stout elongating greatly after fertilisation. Leaves elliptic in a semi-rosette, stem with one or two leafy sheathing bracts.
Flowers
Medium sized 20mm tall, stout, erect with dark green, down-curved blunt dorsal sepal and petals. Labellum broad, dark green, paler below.
Flowering
October - November.
Habitat
Lowland; grassland and open scrub, track sides and well lit forest or scrub. Waikato to Otago.
Conservation
Scattered, never abundant; not threatened but naturally uncommon. Occurs in Australia

Flower seems small in proportion to stem.
